Design and Installation of Clean Air Systems such as HVAC, Ducting Installation

Service Name:

Design and Installation of Clean Air Systems such as HVAC, Ducting Installation

HVAC stands for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning, which is an integrated system designed to control temperature, humidity, and indoor air quality within a building to create a comfortable and healthy environment for occupants. The system not only heats and cools spaces but also ensures proper air circulation, filtration of pollutants and allergens, and humidity control.

1. Clean Air System Design (HVAC & Ducting)

HVAC system design for pharmaceutical facilities must comply with CPOB/GMP and ISO 14644 standards, as it directly affects air quality in pharmaceutical production areas.

Design Stages:

  1. Requirements Analysis
    - Determining room classification (ISO 5–ISO 8) based on production processes
    - Calculating cooling, heating, and humidity load requirements.
    - Defining airflow direction to prevent cross-contamination

  2. - HVAC System Design
    - Air Handling Unit (AHU): Controls temperature, humidity, and air filtration.
    - Filters: Uses pre-filters, medium filters, and HEPA filters (H13/H14) in accordance with standards.
    - Differential Pressure: Maintains positive pressure (production areas) and negative pressure (contamination-risk areas).
    - Control System: Automation integration for monitoring temperature, relative humidity (RH), and pressure.

  3. Ducting Design
Designing supply and return ducting routes for optimal airflow
    - Minimizing sharp bends and leakage for efficiency
    - Selecting hygienic materials (typically galvanized steel or stainless steel)

  4. Simulation & Design Validation
    - Using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) software to validate airflow, pressure distribution, and temperature distribution

HVAC & Ducting Installation

After design approval, installation is carried out through the following stages:

A. AHU Preparation & Installation
- AHU is installed in a technical area outside the production rooms
- All AHU-to-duct connections are insulated for thermal protection and noise reduction

B. Ducting Installation
- Supply ducting is installed from the AHU to air distribution points in production rooms
- Return/exhaust ducting is installed to control air circulation and room pressure
- All joints are sealed to prevent air leakage

C. Diffuser & Grill Installation
- HEPA box diffusers are installed at supply air terminal points
- Return grilles are strategically placed to manage return airflow

D. Control System Integration
- Temperature, humidity, and pressure sensors are installed
- Connected to SCADA/Building Management System (BMS) for real-time monitoring

3. Testing & Qualification
After installation is completed, the following tests are conducted:

- Airflow Test to ensure air distribution matches the design.
- Filter Integrity Test to verify the HEPA filter performance.
- Differential Pressure Test to validate room pressure conditions.
- Q/OQ Qualification conducted prior to facility handover to the project owner.
